The right way vs. the wrong way

Small mistakes turn into big repair bills. Here is how to hook up water correctly.

Right hookup order

  • 1. Attach pressure regulator to campground spigot.
  • 2. Connect fresh water hose to regulator.
  • 3. Connect hose to RV inlet.
  • 4. Turn on water slowly. Check for leaks.

Result: Protected plumbing. Stable water pressure. No expensive blowouts.

Hookup mistakes

  • 1. Hose directly to spigot.
  • 2. Turn on water full blast.
  • 3. Attach pressure regulator at the RV inlet.

Result: Your hose takes full pressure and bursts. Spikes damage internal lines.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from Price Right RV customers.

How do I test a campground power pedestal?

Use a surge protector with an integrated fault indicator. Before plugging in, visually inspect the receptacle for melting or scorch marks. If it feels loose or looks burned, ask the campground to move you.

Where does the water pressure regulator go?

Always attach the water pressure regulator directly to the campground spigot, not at the RV inlet. This protects your water hose from bursting.

Why does my water pump run but produce no water?

Your fresh water tank may be empty, or the winterizing valve near the pump may still be turned toward the antifreeze inlet tube instead of the fresh tank. Check the valve alignment.

How do I de-winterize my RV safely?

Flush all lines with fresh water until clear. Make sure to flip the water heater bypass valves to normal operation before turning the water heater on, otherwise you will burn out the heating element.
